We are all about building relationships.
It is when we work together that real progress and tangible change happen quickly and effectively.
We work with a variety of individuals and organizations on the front lines of the mission to make the world a better place.
She is a force to be reckoned with and an inspiration to people all over the world. We're proud to call her a friend and a plastic-free activist colleague. We have long been a sponsor of her blog, and whenever we're in the Bay Area we look her up and trade stories. Her recent book is a must-have, all-encompassing guide to living without plastic: Plastic-Free: How I Kicked the Plastic Habit and How You Can Too.
Plastic Pollution Coalition (PPC) is a global alliance of individuals, organizations and businesses working together to stop plastic pollution and its toxic impacts on humans, animals and the environment. The experienced, creative, and saavy team running the PPC have brought the issue of plastic pollution to a new globally accessible level. As active members of the PPC, we take part in quarterly conference calls with the PPC community and have sponsored various PPC activities, including the fabulously inspiring Think Beyond Plastic Innovation Competition. As well, we are thrilled to be able to offer exclusive Plastic Pollution Coalition products in our online store.
We've followed the ground-breaking work of Algalita Founder Captain Charles Moore for years as he has spread the word globally about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Algalita conducts extensive field research, analysis and education activities related to plastic pollution. We are sponsors of their annual Plastic Ocean Pollution Solutions (POPS) International Youth Summit - an amazing forum that gives motivated youth a tangible opportunity to be part of the solution to plastic pollution.
Marcus Eriksen and Anna Cummins founded 5Gyres to conduct research and communicate about the global impact of plastic pollution in the world’s oceans and employ strategies to eliminate the accumulation of plastic pollution in the 5 subtropical ocean gyres. The dynamic and tireless 5Gyres team conduct cutting edge research on plastic pollution in waterways all over the world, from California to Japan to the Great Lakes, and then share the results in various fora and carry out campaigns to create tangible change. We were one of the first companies to jump on board and sponsor a "trawl" collecting samples of the ocean surface to quantify the mass, size, colour and type of plastic pollution floating in the gyres back in 2010 when they put out a call for sponsors for an expedition through the South Atlantic ocean gyre. The value of the research they are doing cannot be underestimated and we're honoured to work with them.
Plastic Oceans is a global network of independent not-for-profits and charitable organizations, united in their aims to change the world’s attitude towards plastic within a generation. There are currently four Plastic Oceans Foundation entities: United States, Canada, Hong Kong and United Kingdom serving both the ocean and the public. Plastic Oceans helps people understand the danger of continuing to perceive plastic as disposable. Once aware of the ultimate threat to human health, it becomes a personal choice to prevent plastic waste from entering the environment. Awareness is building through the release of their documentary feature film, A Plastic Ocean. We are so pleased to sponsor a launch screening of the film in our home community Wakefield Doc Fest, and to support Plastic Oceans moving forward on this global plastic-free journey we all share.
Green America is a not-for-profit membership organization working to harness economic power—the strength of consumers, investors, businesses, and the marketplace—to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society. We are proud to be part of the Green Business Network and to be Green America Gold Certified, having gone through a rigourous evaluation of our business by Green America. Their annual Green Pages is the go-to guide for finding a green business or organization. Green America also organizes the popular Green Festivals, which take place five times a year in various cities across the US. We have attended in San Francisco as exhibitors. Here is an interview they did of us as part of their Faces of the Green Pages series talking to green businesses.
Husband and wife team, Tom Malterre, MS, CN and Alissa Segersten, offer the latest research on what is causing our drastic rise in disease within the last few decades. They emphasize how chemical exposures, nutrient deficiencies, and shifts in the microbiome are changing our health. Their website offers healing recipes, as well as information on how to live a lifestyle that serves the people and the planet. They are long-standing Life Without Plastic supporters, and we are honoured to be mentioned as the go-to place for non-plastic items in their gorgeous new publication, The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook.
